The fashion industry is booming with millennial entrepreneurs looking to get a piece of the fashion pie. With the oversaturation of boutiques and designers, entrepreneurs are working diligently to keep up with the swift evolution of what is and is not fashion.
IAMGIRLTALK made its debut online about five years ago. Business was so good that only three years in and IAMGIRLTALK planted permanent roots in Detroit, MI. IAMGIRLTALK’s owner, Rynicia was already known in the Detroit community as a designer so beefing up clientele was no problem.
I have high-style, classy fashion – from day to night. I just love my style!

IAMGIRLTALK is a women’s contemporary boutique, that offers the hottest looks from maxi dresses, crop tops, bandage dresses, heels, wedges and trendy jewelry.

The goal is to provide a fashionable look that is professional enough for work, but sexy enough to meet your girls for a drink after hours. As a working mom, I’m all about being able to save time and money with transitioning my look from day to night. IAMGIRLTALK is just that! I love it!
Since I’m the girl everyone was talking about, I named my boutique “Girl Talk.”
When a woman comes into my store, I want her leave with a smile. Like I want her to feel like the outfit she has is like no other. I love styling! I pick out items for them because I see what will look great on them.
Now personally, when it comes to fashion, I’m the one who plays it safe. I love the fact that customers can visit IAMGIRLTALK online or in store and receive that one-on-one personal shopper experience.
Yes. I ask questions about the event they’re attending, their personal styles, etc. I encourage customers to try on different looks. It’s all about what looks good on.

As always with success comes challenges. Rynicia admits to having difficulty with support.
While you’re succeeding, you want the one’s you love, but those are the one’s that aren’t around. It’s very challenging because you think… that’s messed up, but it is what it is. So it’s not easy at all.
I started an ambassador program where I’m recruiting supporters or ambassadors – so I know it’s getting better.
Despite challenges, IAMGIRLTALK continues to produce quality product and work on building brand awareness. When you have a passion, no matter what obstacles come your way, you push forward to achieve whatever goal you have.
When your passion flows through the work you’re producing, you have no choice but to be successful. While already five years in, Rynicia is not giving up.
My ultimate goal is to design my own fashion line and become a true designer. I’m starting a blog on my site to talk about fashion and what we provide. I mean it is Girl Talk.
Honing in on designer skills free media at your fingertips, IAMGIRLTALK is constantly perfecting the brand by use of social media, personal styling opportunities, and staying on top of fashion trends.
I’m constantly buying fabric and creating designs. I’m setting goals and not giving up. My style is totally different and you don’t see a lot of what we offer in other boutiques.
My advice to people wanting to start a business or even a boutique is just to do it and don’t give up. Just do it. I mean, you’re going to run into challenges, but just do it and don’t ever give up.
