RAP REVOLT…
Every generation has its evolution of music and within every generation of artists, there’s always a handful that stand out. Travel down to Jackson, Mississippi and ask about the artists in the area and if they don’t mention SILAS….they’ve been living under a rock. No really!
Truly a cleaver artist, SILAS or then… Trey Parker integrated comedy with his untouchable rap technique. You know when you hear an artist on the radio and immediately know who it is no matter how many other artist are on the record? Yeah…his style is his fingerprint.
SILAS created his brand years before now…years before even being noticed or taken seriously. His unwillingness to conform to what’s “popular” excluded him from the “Hip Hop artists” in-crowd in his own back yard. However, not missing a beat, SILAS continued using his talents in comedy to boost his brand as an artist. He even co-starred in a YouTube show with his now, wife, Cookie – That’s My Baby series. Music videos like “Cookie Monster,” the masterpiece remake of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” reached nearly 80,000 views.
Thousands of YouTube views, supporters from everywhere and then his big announcement. Trey Parker had to go. Although it was an extremely hard decision to make, SILAS came out on top, this time to pursue his desire to eliminate all regular rap.
And so Rap Revolt was born. The album tells the story of his transformation from Trey Parker to SILAS with direct quotes from fans, his personal battle with the decision to focus on music and a couple of punch lines directed towards all rappers. Basically y’all better come with it!
Read this and read this well…SILAS is a lyrical genius…but enough from me…
