Remembering the Struggle…Remembering the Man…Keeping the Legacy
As the world mourns the loss of one of history’s greatest legends, I remember. I remember Nelson Mandela for which he stood. He stood tall and humble, brave and unstoppable for what was right…what was due to him…for FREEDOM. I remember the stories in history classes about this great man. I remember the cheers in 1990 when he was released from prison and though I was only a child, I remember that it meant something monumental…something lasting and heroic. As a grown woman now, I realize the importance of who Nelson Mandela was, not only to his country, but to the world. His fight was long and hard, yet he pushed forward. His fight was desperate and heartfelt building a legacy that I pray shall forever be inked in history. Mandela’s life is but a reminder that God hand picked us each with a divine message to share…a divine purpose. For his long fight…for his strong will…for his unwavering determination to conquer hate…for his love…for his peaceful spirit I thank you Nelson Mandela. I thank you and I thank God for sharing you with us. May this world be grateful. May you be eternally FREE. – LSherie
