ABOUT J. LEE:

The phenomenal award-winning play-write, J. Lee, native of Jackson, Mississippi and Jackson State University alum acknowledges his first stage experience with the critically acclaimed play, “Dangerously in Love”. The play was written as a fundraiser for the American Marketing Association, JSU Chapter.
It was soon there after that J. Lee developed a vision; this vision would be the beginning of J. Lee Productions & the J. Lee Team. J. Lee’s first major production debuted summer 2008; the play “No Good Comes to Those Who Do Wrong” was an immediate success. With record-breaking DVD sales, viewers all over the United States have enjoyed the show. “No Good Comes to Those Who Do Wrong” has also toured the state of Mississippi and placed third in the Jackson Free Press- Jackson Best for the Best Stage Play in 2008.
In spring 2009 J. Lee released a more personal stage play “Why Am I Single?” It quickly became a fan favorite. Based on the struggle and troubles of single life, “Why Am I Single?” gave both the male and female perspective and won second place in the Jackson Free Press Jackson Best for the Best Stage Play in 2009. Due to the huge success of “Why Am I Single?” J. Lee was prompted to write a follow up to the stage play, this time he turn his attention to the big screen.
In late fall of 2009 J. Lee penned and co-directed the short- film “What Do The Lonely Do For Christmas”. The film is a continuation of “Why Am I Single”, showing how the loveless deal with a lonely holiday. Premiering five days before Christmas in Jackson, Mississippi at the historic Alamo Theatre to a sold out crowd, the film has been deemed a holiday classic.
Following the success of the short film, J. Lee wrote the closing chapter to what has become known as the “Single Saga”- he returned to stage with “REVENGE” in the spring of 2010. “REVENGE” was a metro area favorite and went on to win Best Stage Play 2010 in the Jackson Free Press Jackson Best.
In the spring 2011 J. Lee released his first documentary entitled “BLACK LOVE”, which took an in depth look into relationships in the African American community. The Documentary has gone on to be screened in several film festivals and he’s contemplating a follow up. J. Lee is also preparing to debut his latest stage production entitled “Everyone Plays The Fool” this fall.
J. Lee credits God, his family, his team, and the community for the success J. Lee Productions and for taking the company to new heights. Finding his purpose in life, J. Lee forward to the day he can share his talents with the world.
J. Lee believes that you should not dream, if you’re not going to do what it takes to make those dreams come true. With faith, prayer, dedication, and determination anything is possible.
